For the past 20 years, I worked in the for profit environment, but I as I got older and became more aligned with what is important for me, I developed aspirations of working in the nonprofit environment. Again, by happenstance, my contracting business began to have issues that I no longer had the motivation to address. I needed change to breathe life and meaning into what I have been doing for so long. After going through the collaborative leadership course, my experience as a volunteer, and all the research I did during this time period, it was obvious that I have an opportunity to affect change in my small city. By implementing some of my natural skills in business development I rehabilitated the contracting business by developing relationships with several large clients and providing detrimental solutions to some of my struggling clients. The intent was to increase sustainability at KAS Memphis so I could partner it with local non-profits in the community, providing jobs and skills training to people who have been convicted of first-time, nonviolent, drug offenses.

Artifact 3 is a business development proposal for a property management client.

This artifact shapes an opportunity for future growth and seizes creative action (Progam outcome 2) by addressing my client's current challenges in leasing, online reviews, and customer retention. The proposal is a low-cost strategy to increase revenue and marketability by allowing new customers to choose some of the features in the unit they lease. Professional shoppers deemed this property to be sub par to competitors in the area based on a number of critical areas, so to maintain a competitive advantage, the property management company will need to assess the need for a different strategy.

Grounded in the tenets of adaptability (Eoyang, Holladay, 2013), this proposal is the first stage of many that demonstrates a critical evaluation of the context followed by an approach that benefits all parties involved. As a professional that offers solutions to property management challenges, my goal in this presentation is to provide a holistic answer to my client's issue while promoting sustainability within the organization that I represent (KAS, Memphis). The strategy offered in artifact 3 is the beginning of an interactive proposal that grows and develops based on customer reviews, market trends, and cost analysis. Beginning with this upgrade project, it will allow our client to develop research as to where their efforts are best spent going forward.
